Aksel Lund Svindal's fiancée makes headlines

Aksel Lund Svindal is one of the greatest skiers of all time. Now, for once, the Norwegian is serving as a lucky charm.

In his career, Aksel Lund Svindal has competed in no fewer than 15 races at the Olympic Games. The great successes were not lacking. In 2010, the Norwegian was crowned Olympic champion in the Super-G, and eight years later he crowned himself with the gold medal in the downhill in Pyeongchang.

The 41-year-old has long known that games under the five rings have a special charm. Svindal is currently experiencing that this is also the case at the Summer Olympics. In a few days, his fiancée Amalie Iuel will be competing in Paris. Iuel is one of the best hurdlers over 400 meters - and she has achieved an impressive performance that is causing quite a stir.

New mom

Eleven months after the birth of her son, Iuel will compete in the Olympics. "After an emergency Caesarean section, I have achieved my dream, which was actually not realistic. I have been called up for my third Olympic Games and will compete in the 400 meter hurdles and the 4x400 meter relay," Iuel recently wrote on Instagram.

It was not until September 2023 that Iuel and Svindal's first son Storm was born. The 30-year-old Norwegian with Danish roots, who has also been Svindal's fiancée since October last year, then worked towards her comeback and has now fulfilled a dream by taking part in the Olympics as a mother.

Before leaving for Paris, Svindal shared a photo on Instagram showing the athletics mom with her son Storm in her arms. "We are proud of you," Svindal wrote. The former ski star is a full-time dad these days and is keeping his fingers crossed for mom Amalie with his son Storm. Iuel will be competing for the first time this Sunday, when the preliminary round of the 400 meter hurdles takes place.
