Maria Höfl-Riesch made headlines this summer. The former star skier separated from her husband Marcus Höfl after 13 years of marriage. "After careful consideration and with a heavy heart, we have decided to go our separate ways in the future," the two wrote together on Instagram at the beginning of August.
Now Höfl-Riesch's name is making the rounds in the media again. The reason: her visit to the Oktoberfest. Or rather, a special detail about her visit to the Oktoberfest. The three-time Olympic champion from Bavaria appeared at the Käfer-Wiesn-Schänke at the weekend, and the eyes of some Wiesn connoisseurs (and some tabloid magazines) fell on Höfl-Riesch's outfit.
Höfl-Riesch wore her dirndl bow on the right side. According to old tradition, this means married or in a relationship. Anyone who ties it on the left is single. “Is there already a new man in her life?” asked the magazine The colorful one.

The 2011 overall World Cup winner did not want to give any interviews. But it could well be that the ribbon on the right side was an oversight; or the separation is still too recent; or Höfl-Riesch simply wants to have some peace and quiet at the Wiesn. But the thing about peace and quiet and the Oktoberfest is a tricky one: Until October 6, a state of absolute emergency will prevail on Munich's Theresienwiese.
