Danklmaier breathes a sigh of relief: No serious injury

Daniel Danklmaier, who suffered a serious fall during the Super-G in Val Gardena, was lucky in his misfortune. The Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) announced this on Monday evening.

The 31-year-old fell in the Ciaslat when he got caught in a gate. The Styrian then remained lying on the ground, but then skied down the valley before being taken away by an ambulance. Danklmaier was taken to Innsbruck for further examinations.

As it turned out in the evening, he was not seriously injured. "However, Danklmaier suffered severe bruising on both knees and will have to take a break for six to eight weeks," the ÖSV wrote on social media.

This puts the home World Championships in Saalbach, which begin on February 4, 2025, in jeopardy. The speed specialist would have been a hot contender for a World Championship ticket, especially in the Super-G. At the season opener in Beaver Creek, he finished 9th in the discipline in question. Now a race against time begins for him.
