Baby on the way: South Tyrol's ski family is growing

While the ski elite is currently preparing for the new season, Johanna Schnarf has long since settled into family life. Now a very special adventure awaits the Pustertal native.

As the two-time World Cup podium finisher announced on Instagram, she is going to be a mother for the second time. The 40-year-old posted several photos of herself with her first-born daughter Leni. Schnarf proudly presents her baby bump and writes words like "We are waiting for you", "autumn baby", "the family is growing" and, last but not least, "October 2024", which means that the offspring will soon see the light of day.

Hanna Schnarf has long since arrived in her life after her skiing career. The Pustertal native, who lives in Issing near Pfalzen, has been in "retirement" since April 2020. Just a few months later, the former speed specialist and her husband Alex were happy about the birth of their first child, little Leni. Now baby number 2 is on the way.

Hanna Schnarf has left her mark on South Tyrolean skiing history. On the one hand, in the sporting field, as the now 40-year-old competed in 189 World Cup races, made it into the top 10 several times and even made it onto the podium twice. On the other hand, Schnarf was extremely popular as a person, as she was considered a cheerful person in the skiing circus who never lost her smile even after numerous serious injuries.

Only once did she shed big tears: when she missed a medal at the 2018 Olympic Games by just five hundredths of a second, Schnarf was inconsolable at the finish. But the Pustertal native has also overcome this setback. Now Hanna Schnarf can tell her children about her great career.
