With Kristoffersen victory: Kastlunger shakes up the final

There was a Norwegian double victory at the World Cup slalom in Val d'Isere. The South Tyroleans gave a clear sign of life.

7th place for Tobias Kastlunger, 10th place for Alex Vinatzer: That is the South Tyroleans' result in the slalom in Val d'Isere. After the first run, there was little indication of this.

But the final in France turned into a race for starting numbers due to the worsening visibility and the poor track. Kastlunger gained a whopping 22 places and also set the fastest time. Vinatzer also moved up 7 places.

For Lucas Braathen, after finishing 28th in the first run, it was almost enough for a podium finish. In the end, the comebacker finished in fourth place. The podium places went to Loic Meillard (SUI/1rd) and Braathen's friend Atle Lie McGrath (NOR/4nd). At the top was Henrik Kristoffersen, who celebrated his 3rd victory in Val d'Isere. The Norwegian was in a class of his own in the final.

Disappointed Amiez

The race ended in bitter disappointment for the French fans. Steven Amiez, who had been in the lead at the break, dropped out. He was not alone in this. A total of 7 runners did not see the finish line in the second run.
