“Better together”: The ski dream couple is reunited

Mikaela Shiffrin and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde are beaming from ear to ear: After a turbulent winter, the dream couple of the ski scene are enjoying their time together again.

A walk in the idyllic Austrian countryside, a casual chat at the kitchen table, a bit of fooling around on the couch: Mikaela Shiffrin and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde shared insights on Instagram into how they're currently enjoying their time in Innsbruck. After a turbulent season in which they had to cope without each other for a long time, the dream ski couple can finally shine together again.

Behind these two exceptional athletes lies a winter that was anything but normal. Kilde, one of the best downhill skiers in the world, hasn't competed in a race all season. He's still suffering from the effects of his brutal Wengen crash in January 2024, in which he sustained several serious injuries, including a complicated shoulder injury.

Shiffrin, on the other hand, suffered a serious setback at the start of this year's season. The best female skier of all time crashed in Killington and suffered a deep stab wound in her abdomen, which even required surgery. The American fought back and celebrated her 100th World Cup victory in Sestriere. However, the fall was clearly visible, especially in the giant slalom.

Recently, Kilde and Shiffrin had to go without each other for several weeks. He worked on his comeback in the weight room and with a physiotherapist, while she traveled around the world with the ski team. For example, to Sun Valley (USA), where the World Cup finals were taking place. It's not uncommon for the two to be separated for weeks at a time during the World Cup winter.

Now they're reunited in their adopted hometown of Innsbruck and are enjoying their time together to the fullest. "Life is better together," Mikaela Shiffrin captioned the photos on Instagram.
