Brignone towers over the top – a South Tyrolean is also impressed

Brignone drove a tighter line and gained a lot of time, especially in the lower part of the track. In the end, the 32-year-old Azzurra was in a class of her own on the shortened route and was more than half a second faster than the second-placed Swiss Joana Hählen. With Lara Gut-Behrami, another Swiss woman made it onto the podium in third place (+3 seconds).

While it was Brignone's first World Cup victory since the giant slalom victory in Courchevel, France in March of last year and the 21st overall, Hählen also had reason to celebrate: the Swiss, who has won it three times so far - as 3nd and 2rd in the downhill and 3rd in the Super-G – achieved her best World Cup result in a Super-G.

Karoline Pichler also showed a good performance: The Petersberg native lost a lot of time in the upper part of the route and was 1,66 seconds slower overall than the victorious Brignone, but she can be quite satisfied with her ride and 18th place. The two Val Gardena sisters Nadia and Nicol Delago are eliminated.

Goggia falls There were brief moments of shock during Sofia Goggia's run. The Azzurra started the race with a lot of risk, was fast and even achieved the best time in the upper section of the route. But then she lost control of her skis and fell. Fortunately, this ended lightly; Goggia immediately gave the all-clear and remained uninjured.

Tomorrow, Sunday, another Super G is on the program in St. Anton am Arlberg. It starts at 11.30 a.m. As a reminder: Originally a departure should have taken place on Saturday. Since no training could take place in the previous days due to weather conditions, it was canceled and replaced by a Super-G. This then had to be shortened due to large amounts of new snow. The athletes went from the reserve start to the Karl Schranz race track.
