The Swiss World Cup squad is causing discussions

A nation's World Cup squad may contain a maximum of 24 names. Switzerland clearly takes up all the places here, even if the distribution is uneven: 14 men and ten women travel to the French Alps. But it is not this fact that causes debate. Rather, it is the disregard of a female athlete that became a topic of conversation. According to the selection criteria, slalom specialist Elena Stoffel qualified for the World Cup, but is still not allowed to take part. According to Swiss Ski's selection criteria, in order to take part in the World Cup, you have to finish in the top 7 once or in the top 15 twice. The 26-year-old Stoffel achieved this as she took 15th place twice. But: Four other athletes will start in the World Cup slalom. Wendy Holdener (two wins) was seeded, as was Camille Rast (sixth once). The other two starting positions went to Aline Danioth (twice 13th) and Michelle Gisin (once ninth and once 14th).
