Delago sisters return to Favoritenberg

If there are two routes that are perfectly tailored to Nicol and Nadia Delago, then they are the ones in Lake Louise and Altenmarkt-Zauchensee. The slope in the state of Salzburg is one of the most demanding in the World Cup and is unique due to the extremely steep starting slope. At the age of 21, Nicol achieved the first top ten place of her career in ninth place in the downhill - with number 38. After the World Cup did not stop in Altenmarkt for three years, the athlete from Wolkenstein finished second in 2020 even on the podium. Her younger sister Nadia also has an impressive track record. The 24-year-old competed in two downhill runs at the foot of the Gamskogel as part of the European Cup – and won both. Nevertheless, it is a sign that the two women from Val Gardena feel right at home in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee. The 29-year-old has won all of the last seven World Cup downhills, but so far she has been denied a podium place in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee. Nevertheless, she is the big favorite for both the downhill and the Super-G. Lara Gut-Behrami and Corinne Suter, who won the last race at this location in 2020, want to make life difficult for the Italian.

Also taking part is Petra Vlhova, who is taking part in a speed race for the first time this season. Federica Brignone is also back after recovering from knee problems.
