The diagnosis is there: This is how Mattia Casse is doing

Mattia Casse suffered a serious fall during downhill training in Kvitfjell on Wednesday. The diagnosis has now been made.

First the driving error, then the collision with a gate and finally the fall that ended in the safety net: Mattia Casse was hit on Wednesday in Kvitfjell. After his crash, the Italian, who won his first World Cup race this season in Val Gardena, remained lying on the ground and had to be treated for a long time. Training was interrupted for around 20 minutes and the skiing world asked itself: how badly was Casse injured?

In the evening, Italy's winter sports association gave an update on the 35-year-old's condition. Doctors at the Lillehammer hospital diagnosed a complicated fracture of the elbow that requires surgery. Casse will now travel to Milan and undergo detailed examinations on Thursday. A decision will then be made as to when he will undergo surgery.

"Maybe my season isn't over yet." Mattia Casse

Casse himself is combative and has not yet written off the current season. "Of course it would have been better if it hadn't happened. I'm still staying positive - maybe the season isn't over for me yet. I'll decide that together with the doctors," the ski ace from Piedmont is quoted as saying in the press release.
