Loic Meillard and his girlfriend.

The special love story of the new Swiss ski hero

Loic Meillard is becoming more and more of a big Swiss star alongside Marco Odermatt. A special love relationship gives him strength.

Some in the ski circus already described him as the “eternal second”. But then Loic Meillard landed the really big coup on Sunday: In Aspen he won a World Cup slalom for the first time in his career. This means that the 27-year-old has risen into an illustrious circle: before him, only twelve Swiss had managed to win a slalom in the premier ski class.

With this victory, Meillard has once again proven that he is on the way to becoming a big star. He now has a total of 19 podium finishes to his name and has won three medals at world championships. Meillard is also given strength by his girlfriend Zoé Chastan, who takes part in almost every race. Not as a private companion for Meillard, but as a communications person for the Swiss Ski Association.

She is always with him because of her job

Like the Swiss View reports, this relationship was viewed critically at the beginning, especially by some trainers. Meillard and his Zoé have now proven that they can skillfully separate their private lives and careers. “Zoé treats Loic exactly the same as all other team members when it comes to communications work. She really does a very good job,” said Swiss Ski communications director Christian Stahl View.

Chastan used to be a competitive athlete herself and was active in ski cross for years. Now she should be very proud of her Loic, who is increasingly becoming a world-class athlete.
