They are among the stars of the skiing world, they have won victories and medals in recent months – and now they have also revealed their unusual love story. The ski scene has a new dream couple.

Sometimes it's love at first sight. Sometimes it's love at second, third, or fourth sight. In the case of the two Norwegian ski stars, Timon Haugan and Thea Louise Stjernesund, it took even longer. The two have known each other for half their lives – but now sparks have flown. "Yes, we are a couple," Stjernesund confirmed to the Norwegian television station. NRK.

The ski world has a new dream couple. Stjernesund has been a mainstay of the Norwegian technical team for years and crowned her career two weeks ago when she won the silver medal in the Olympic giant slalom, finishing behind Federica Brignone. Her boyfriend, Haugan, is one of the best slalom skiers in the world and has already won six World Cup races.

The love story of the two 29-year-olds is a special one. "We met 15 years ago and attended the same class at the sports high school for four years," Stjernesund explained. NRK. During that time, the Norwegian woman was often invited to Haugan's home for dinner, and not only the two teenagers but also their mothers became close friends. "When my mom found out we were a couple, she was absolutely thrilled," Haugan laughed.

First the basket, then sparks flew.

But how did the spark ignite between the two good friends? "Timon already sought 'a conversation' in 2021 and tried to find out if there was more to it," explains Stjernesund, adding: "I was completely surprised. It was a bad time for me back then, but I told him that I might come back in five years, full of regret. In the end, it didn't take five, but four years. It's funny how things turn out."

The two have been officially a couple since the end of last year. "We are lucky to be able to build our relationship on a 15-year friendship," says Stjernesund happily. Incidentally, the two have also celebrated sporting successes together and have repeatedly reached the podium and won medals in team events.
