Under perfect conditions, the second women's European Cup slalom took place on the challenging Goasleitn slope in the Ahrntal Ski World. A top international field of athletes from no fewer than 25 nations ensured high-class skiing.

After the first run, the Italian Giulia Valleriani was in the lead, closely followed by the two Swiss skiers Janine Maechler and Eliane Christen. The gaps at the top were minimal, promising a thrilling second run. And it lived up to the hype: several skiers delivered impressive performances, significantly improving their times.


In the end, the 21-year-old American was allowed to... Liv Moritz She was celebrated as the radiant winner. With a strong second run, she catapulted herself to the top of the standings, relegating Sweden's Estelle Alphand to second place.

An Italian woman on the podium

Valleriani from the Lazium region, who was leading after the first run, ultimately had to settle for third place, but completed the podium.

From a South Tyrolean perspective, Laura Steinmair from Olang impressed as the best local skier with a solid 15th place. Celina Haller from Schenna also delivered a good performance, finishing in 18th place. The slalom in the Ahrntal valley once again confirmed the high sporting prestige of the European Cup races and offered spectators skiing at the highest level.

Maurberger in Fassa in the top ten

An Italian skier also secured a podium finish in the men's European Cup. In the slalom in Val di Fassa, Tommaso Saccardi finished second behind the French winner, Auguste Aulnette. Simon Maurberger, a veteran from the Ahrntal valley, finished tenth, making it into the top ten. Matteo Canins (St. Kassian) and Jakob Franzelin (Montan) finished 19th and 41st, respectively.
