A ski story that gets under your skin

Marta Giunti was once considered a talent in the Italian skiing panorama who could make it to the World Cup. She won points in the European Cup in four disciplines – all before her 22nd birthday. Numbers that not many can boast. The woman from Tuscany is now almost 26 years old. Serious injuries slowed down their development and prevented promotion to the premier class. But Giunti hasn't ended her career yet. Last year the Italian mainly competed in FIS races, where she also took part in the European Cup in Sarntal. That's out of the question this year: the speed specialist stayed away from the ski slopes for health reasons. As Giunti wrote on social media, she has been suffering from malaise in recent months. Because the cause was not found, a psychological problem was suspected. After countless examinations, she received the shock diagnosis: T-cell defect and there was also a risk of a rare disease. “That might have been enough, but what really shocked me was the statement that lymphoma should be examined,” Giunti writes. “How did we go from a simple 'a psychologist could solve everything' to 'you could have lymph node cancer'?” asks the Italian. Concentrate all your strength It may sound absurd, but in the midst of all this evil, she feels blessed and grateful for the privilege she has: the privilege of knowing. “I now know my opponent and I can hardly wait to win this race,” says Giunti combatively. “I want to look at all the injuries I've had, the surgeries and the days I've spent in the hospital as training that will allow me to be ready for this race, ready to win." Finally, Giunti writes: "I "I can't wait to tell you it was a false alarm." That would be the biggest victory of her career.
