Surgery successful: Nicol Delago can look forward

Just a few hours after returning from South America, the Val Gardena ski star went under the knife in Milan. The doctors have also determined her recovery time.

In around 60 days, Nicol Delago will be back on skis - provided the healing process goes according to plan. The 28-year-old World Cup athlete suffered a broken collarbone in the training camp in Ushuaia (Argentina).

After Delago had to leave her quarters in South America early, she returned to Milan on Friday evening. Doctors Gabriele Thiebat and Riccardo Accetta operated on her at the La Madonnina clinic. FISI chief physician Andrea Panzeri was also present at the operation. According to the association, the operation went smoothly.

The South Tyrolean is now supposed to avoid any movement for a few days before she can start her rehab training. According to the doctors' prognosis, she should be fit again in time for the speed opening in Beaver Creek in mid-December.

The older of the two Delago sisters returned to her top form last season after difficult years. She made it onto the World Cup podium twice, finishing third in the downhill races in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee and Saalbach-Hinterglemm.
