After the training session on Thursday, head coaches Roland Assinger and Marko Pfeifer nominated Nina Astner, Stephanie Brunner, Viktoria Bürgler, Franziska Gritsch, Lisa Hörhager, Katharina Liensberger, Victoria Olivier, Julia Scheib and Maja Waroschitz, as well as Stefan Brennsteiner, Manuel Feller, Lukas and Patrick Feurstein, Raphael Haaser, Vincent Kriechmayr, Joshua Sturm and Marco Schwarz.
In addition, the snow control measures carried out by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) on the Rettenbach Glacier were taken lightly. "The slope is already in excellent condition one week before the start," said FIS Race Director Markus Mayr.
"Those responsible have done a great job; all that's missing is the final touches." Maximilian Obergruber, project manager at Ski Austria Events, described the conditions as perfect. "This is demonstrated by the fact that almost all teams have already been able to train on the race slope."
The first giant slaloms of the Olympic winter are scheduled for Saturday (women) and Sunday (men) next week (10:00 a.m./1:00 p.m. each). Three waves were installed in the flatter final section to increase its appeal, according to Mayr: "They're not meant to be traps. But it's certainly a significant improvement for the final section." Mayr described the safety structures for training as excellent.
