A heart-stopping finale is approaching: Who will win the ski globes?

The World Cup final in Sun Valley, USA, is just around the corner. The question is: Which balls are still looking for a buyer? SportNews provides some clarity.

Some crystal globes have already been awarded for the men's competition, but almost none for the women's. Who will claim the coveted crystal at the World Cup finals in Sun Valley, USA, starting Saturday?

Men

In the men's race, the big winner is – not surprisingly – Marco Odermatt. Even before the final races, the Swiss had already won the big crystal globe for the Overall World Cup and Super-G and Giant Slalom Crystal It's already in the bag. And there are indications that the superstar will crown his dream season with the fourth ball.

The downhill rating "Odi" is currently in the lead with 605 points, while his compatriot Franjo von Allmen is a whopping 522 points behind with 83 points. A lot would have to happen for Odermatt to lose his lead in the final race.

Im Slalom, In the only discipline Odermatt isn't competing in, however, things are looking exciting. Henrik Kristoffersen leads with 612 points, followed by Loic Meillard (565) and Clement Noel (526).

Women

While some decisions have already been made for the men, almost everything is still open for the women. Overall World Cup, The race is practically decided. Federica Brignone has 1.454 points, 382 more than Lara Gut-Behrami. Four races remain, but Gut-Behrami isn't competing in the slalom, so she can no longer pose a threat to Brignone.

What happens in the other disciplines?

Super G: This race has the most potential for excitement. Brignone leads the standings with 570 points, with Gut-Behrami just five points behind. So, it will really depend on the athlete's form on the day to determine which athlete will lift the globe at the end.

Departure: Everything is still up for grabs in this discipline, too. Brignone is in first place with 384 points, followed by Cornelia Hütter 1 points behind, and Sofia Goggia 16 points behind. Although Brignone starts with a slight advantage, a real thrill awaits here as well.

Giant slalom: Brignone also has a chance of winning the globe here, and it's not bad. Before the final race, the Aostanian is 500 points behind leader Alice Robinson with 20 points, who could also secure the first globe of her career. If they are tied on points, Robinson would lose out because she has won fewer races.

Slalom: Four athletes still have a chance of winning the globe. Super-talented Zrinka Ljutic starts from pole position, leading the rankings with 515 points. World champion Camille Rast is lurking behind (474), Katharina Liensberger is also still in the running (464), while Wendy Holdener only has a theoretical chance (419).

In short: In the men's competition, Marco Odermatt can crown a dream season with four crystal globes, and in the women's competition, Federica Brignone also has this chance.
