In St. Moritz everyone hunts Goggia

With the three victories in Canada, the 29-year-old underlined her exceptional position in the speed disciplines and at the same time announced her claims for the overall World Cup. But the athlete from Bergamo isn't wasting any thoughts on that (yet), especially since two Super-Gs will take place in St. Moritz on Saturday and Sunday.

The Italian has mixed feelings about the Swiss luxury ski resort. At the 2017 World Championships she was already considered a sure winner in the downhill, but then made a big mistake in the final section and only finished a disappointing fourth. After all, four days later she won the bronze medal in the giant slalom. In 2019 she showed a typical Goggia ride in the Super-G and drove to an Italian double victory with just one stick. Federica Brignone came second, just a hundredth of a second behind. If it's up to you, you'll be happy to repeat the same thing. Delago wants to improve In addition to Goggia and Brignone, the Italian winter sports association FISI has also nominated Nadia and Nicol Delago, Elena Curtoni, Francesca Marsaglia, Roberta Melesi, Karoline Pichler and Marta Bassino. The latter did not compete in Canada, but trained in Piedmont. Nicol Delago has a special relationship with St. Moritz, as she made her World Cup debut in the canton of Graubünden on January 24, 2015. However, the 25-year-old never finished higher than 23rd in three Super-Gs. Her sister Nadia did not reach the points in her only participation. Karoline Pichler has not yet competed in a World Cup in St. Moritz, but she has taken part in numerous European Cup and FIS races.

In any case, South Tyrolean ski fans have already been able to celebrate numerous successes by local runners in St. Moritz: Isolde Kostner triumphed in the downhill in 1999, while Karen Putzer was at the top in the Super-G in the same year and in 2002.
