Lara Gut-Behrami and her last World Championship
The Alpine Ski World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm will be an emotional farewell for Lara Gut-Behrami. The exceptional Swiss athlete has confirmed that she will no longer compete in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, in 2027.

The 33-year-old from Ticino leaves no room for doubt: "My next and last World Cup is coming up. I said it and that's it for me." With these clear words, she made her decision clear at a Swiss-Ski media event.
Gut-Behrami is competing in her ninth World Championship and can look back on a career marked by eight World Championship medals: two gold, three silver and three bronze. She is also one of the hottest favorites in the speed disciplines of Super-G and Downhill in Saalbach-Hinterglemm. Just a few days ago she secured her first victory of the season in the Super-G in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Gut-Behrami proved that she is in top form in the first downhill training session. She confidently took the lead and relegated the American Breezy Johnson and the Italian Federica Brignone to second and third place.The first showdown of this World Cup is just around the corner: the competition started on Tuesday with the team event. On Thursday, the medals will be up for grabs in the Super-G, followed two days later by the downhill. The last race will be on February 16. Until then, Gut-Behrami has two more chances to secure her place in the history books.
