Michelle Gisin needs immediate surgery.
Michelle Gisin, who suffered a serious fall during training in St. Moritz on Thursday, will undergo surgery that same evening. The reason: an injury to her cervical spine.

Terrible scenes unfolded during the women's downhill training on Thursday in St. Moritz. Michelle Gisin crashed at high speed and slammed into the safety netting. Training was interrupted for a long time, the The Swiss woman was taken to the hospital by rescue helicopter.
Following an examination at the local hospital, Gisin was transferred to Zurich, where further tests were carried out at the Hirslanden Clinic. The result: Gisin will undergo surgery on Thursday evening.
Gisin injured his cervical spine
Although the 32-year-old injured her left knee and right wrist, these injuries are secondary. Gisin also suffered a neck injury, as Swiss Ski announced. Precise diagnoses of the other injuries can only be made after the neck has been stabilized, the press release continued. The serious injury is yet another blow for the Swiss women's ski team. Lara Gut-Behrami (torn cruciate ligament) and Corinne Suter (torn muscle fiber) are already sidelined for an extended period. Suter also crashed in St. Moritz, but a week ago and not during an official downhill training run.
