Austria's ski aces have a new boss

The Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) announced Christian Mitter as its new Alpine Sports Director on Wednesday. The current Sports Director of the Ski Department, Herbert Mandl, will be given a new role.

The long-time head coach of the Norwegian men's team was also head coach of the Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV) women's team from 2019 to 2022. Since then, he has been jointly responsible for the Norwegian men's technical team. Mitter succeeds Herbert Mandl, who will oversee the establishment of an alpine base in St. Christoph am Arlberg.

Mitter, who is still in Scandinavia, will be presented at a media event in Innsbruck next Wednesday. It is a great advantage for Mitter to be able to take on the role this season. "This allows him to assume responsibility right from the start and play a key role in shaping the upcoming Olympic cycle," said Mario Stecher, Sports Director of the Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV).
