Prevc also outflies everyone at the New Year's ski jumping event.

Slovenian Domen Prevc continues his ski jumping triumphs into 2026, leaving the competition in despair.

At the New Year's ski jumping event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Domen Prevc took another step towards overall victory. In front of 22.000 spectators in the sold-out stadium, he jumped distances of 143 and 141 meters, relegating Austrian Jan Hörl and his compatriot Stephan Embacher to the other podium places by a considerable margin.

After jumping, which again resulted in a suit-related disqualification for his teammate Timi Zajc.Prevc is also getting closer to a quadruple victory. Only Sven Hannawald, Kamil Stoch, and Ryoyu Kobayashi have achieved this feat in history. He holds a significant lead over Hörl ahead of the jumps in Innsbruck (January 4th) and Bischofshofen (January 6th).

No Italians participated in the New Year's ski jumping event. The Val Gardena native... Alex Insam narrowly missed qualifying on Wednesday, finishing 52nd – as did Giovanni Bresadola from Trentino in 58th place ( SportNews reported)

Fraud allegations due to binding

Around ten months after the suit scandal at the World Championships in Trondheim, accusations have resurfaced – even beyond the numerous disqualifications. Norwegian media had questioned the legality of the bindings used by Austrian ski jumper Manuel Fettner. The International Ski Federation (FIS) refuted the allegations: "The bindings have been in use for about ten years and have been approved," they stated.
