A talented skier has been hit hard.

Motionless at the finish: Concerns about Swiss ski talent

While a superstar triumphed at the Swiss Championships, there were anxious moments for a young ski talent.

Federica Brignone's bad fall and serious injury have deeply shocked the skiing world. One day after this accident, the next tragedy occurred – at the Swiss Championships. There, a talented skier suffered a serious injury.

In the Super-G of the national championships in Zinal, 16-year-old Lia Elsa fell after the final jump. Her head hit the hard ground. The finish area suddenly fell silent, as the talented skier appeared to have lost consciousness and remained lying motionless. Elsa subsequently received extensive treatment and was flown to the hospital. As the Swiss View reported in the late afternoon, the all-clear came: The young skier suffered a slight concussion and is already on her way home.

Suter crowned Swiss champion

This crash overshadowed what was actually a fantastic race in fantastic conditions. Superstar Corinne Suter lived up to her role as favorite and crowned herself Swiss Super-G champion. Following behind were the young Swiss skiers Malorie Blanc and Junior World Champion Stefanie Grob.
