“The last month has been very good progress. The only thing still missing is mobility in my shoulder,” Kilde explained. His last race was in January 2024, when he suffered a serious crash in the downhill in Wengen.
During the takeoff, Kilde suffered a severed lower leg injury and a complex shoulder injury. He has since undergone five surgeries and also contracted sepsis as a result of a shoulder infection. Back in Sölden, he had already announced his comeback for early December in Beaver Creek. "I'm ready. I feel ready to get going again in Copper and train with the guys. I'm really looking forward to it," Kilde explained. He will decide in Copper whether he will compete in Beaver Creek. However, he hinted that he could start as early as the World Cup weekend in Copper beforehand.

“I’m most looking forward to the downhill (in Beaver Creek). If I start in Copper, that’s part of my comeback to downhill racing,” Kilde said, adding, “Most likely, or hopefully, you’ll see me at the start in Copper.” The Copper Mountain races on November 27th and 28th will feature a Super-G and a Giant Slalom.
