Epidemic season continues: Bassino is missing at Kronplatz
Marta Bassino is currently going through a difficult few weeks. On the one hand, she is struggling with a crisis in results, and on the other hand, she is suffering from physical problems. As a result, she will not be taking part in the giant slalom at Kronplatz on Tuesday.

Marta Bassino was once part of the giant slalom elite. In 2021, she won the small globe for the discipline ranking. However, more than two years have now passed since her last podium finish in the giant slalom. This season, too, she fell short of expectations, finishing 7th and 13th. She was even denied qualification for the second round twice.
As the Italian Winter Sports Federation announced on Tuesday morning, the 28-year-old will not be able to improve her record in front of her own fans. She will be absent from the race at Kronplatz due to flu. She would have entered the race with starting number 8.
The World Cup is approaching
It is the next setback within a few weeks. At the beginning of January, the Italian missed the speed races in St. Anton due to illness, and at the weekend she was eliminated from the Super-G in Cortina with an excellent intermediate time. Bassino's goal is to recover for the speed weekend in Garmisch-Partenkirchen from January 23 to 26. These would be her last races before the Ski World Championships in Saalbach, where she wants to defend her title in the Super-G.Edit Profile
