Shiffrin scares her fans

Mikaela Shiffrin gave her many fans a fright on Saturday during the giant slalom in Mont-Tremblant, Canada.

It was a moment that sent shivers down the spines of Mikaela Shiffrin's fans. As the American skier crossed the finish line in Mont-Tremblant on Saturday, she clutched her right abdomen and grimaced in pain. Had the 104-time World Cup winner been struck by an injury?

It wasn't long before Shiffrin herself addressed the situation on social media. "I'm really sorry if I scared any of you today," the 30-year-old said in a video message. "My back is fine, and so is my hip. I just took a really hard hit from a goal. That hurt a lot," Shiffrin explained, revealing the reason for her pain. She concluded, "Everything's okay, guys!"

Back then, Shiffrin had crashed in Killington and suffered a puncture wound, also in her right abdomen. But unlike last year, the skiing queen was able to give the all-clear this time.
