South Tyrol's ski talents shine at the end of the season
The 2024/25 ski season is drawing to a close. Last week, local talents competed in various FIS races and the legendary "Pinocchio sugli Sci" – and swept the field.

The week began with a national junior race in Cortina, specifically a Super-G. Riccardo Pasquarello won, while Ivan Kerschbaumer (Val Gardena) and national team athlete Noah Gamper (Cermes) finished second and third, respectively. Gamper also won the U18 category, where Aaron Stuffer finished third. Another Super-G was held 24 hours later. Pasquarella struck again. National team athlete Luis Schuster (Plan de Corones) finished second overall and won the U18 category.
Folgaria, on the other hand, hosted two FIS slaloms, where Anna Trocker made a name for herself. The 16-year-old racer from the Seiser Alm Ski Team finished second behind Maria Sole Antonini in one race, while she even won the second race.
Victories and podium finishes at Abetone
The performance of the young local racers at the traditional "Pinocchio sugli Sci," which was held for the 43rd time this year in Abetone (Tuscany), was also crowned with success. At the national level, Alenah Taschler (Gsiesertal) won the U16 giant slalom, while Gloria Kostner (Gröden) and Samuel Prantl (Ulten) won the U14 slalom.The following day, Taschler finished second in the slalom, while Petra Dander (Jochtal) narrowly missed the podium in fourth place. In the U16 boys' category, Noah Gasteiger (Gsiesertal) finished second, and Matthias Mahlknecht (Gröden) took third place. Simon Auer (5th/3 Zinnen Dolomites) and Jeremias Scherer (6th/Alpe di Siusi) rounded out the strong team results. A giant slalom was held in the U14 category.
Here, there was a one-two victory for Val Gardena in the young women's category, with Gloria Kostner (1st) and Vicky Insam (2nd), while Letizia Wenter Heiss from Sarnen took eighth place. Samuel Prantl also made it onto the podium in the boys' category, taking second place. Stefan Prinoth (6th) and Mattia Vinatzer (9th) from Val Gardena finished in the top ten. At the international level, there were no podium finishes on Friday this year, or rather, the races on Saturday were canceled due to weather conditions. Insam finished fifth in the U14 slalom, while Taschler came even closer to a medal, finishing fourth in the U16 giant slalom.
