Sad ski star: “We are no longer a couple”

The new ski season is about to get underway, but a star skier is hit by a personal setback.

Bad luck in games, bad luck in love. This slightly modified saying currently applies to Petra Vlhova. The 29-year-old Slovakian is actually one of the best skiers in the world, but World Cup races are currently out of the question for the Olympic and world champion. She is still suffering from the effects of a cruciate ligament tear that she sustained at the beginning of the year.

Now Vlhova has also suffered a personal setback. As she announced on Instagram, her relationship with boyfriend Michal recently ended. The two had been a couple for five years and had stuck together through thick and thin. In the summer, Vlhova posted on Instagram about the Dolce Vita that she enjoyed with Michal in Italy. But the love has since died out.

"We want to announce what none of us ever wanted to write. That makes finding the right words even more difficult. But it's been a few weeks since we're no longer a couple," says Vlhova. "The decision was very difficult for us and we'll keep in touch, but now only as friends who have experienced a lot together."

Vlhova and Michal (he is said to be a marketing manager and fitness trainer) have been a couple since 2019. However, the two kept their relationship very private, with no public insight apart from a few Instagram snapshots. Now they have separated.
