Injured: Nicol Delago has to go under the knife

Last winter, Nicol Delago found her way back to the top of the world skiing scene. However, the Val Gardena native has now suffered a setback in her preseason preparations.

The older of the two Delago sisters broke her collarbone during ski training in Ushuaia (Argentina). The 28-year-old will return to Italy on Friday evening, where she will be operated on by FISI doctor Andrea Panzeri. This was announced by the Italian Winter Sports Federation.

After a difficult few years, the speed specialist returned to her top form last season. She reached the World Cup podium twice, finishing third in the downhill races in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee and Saalbach-Hinterglemm (both in Austria).

Now the woman from Wolkenstein will be out for quite some time. It is still unclear whether she will be back at the speed opening in Beaver Creek, USA (December 14th and 15th). But it is certainly possible.
