From a millionaire: Bizarre offer for Odermatt

Marco Odermatt is one of the most sought-after men in the skiing world. But this offer from a millionaire must have surprised even the superstar.

No question: Marco Odermatt is the superstar of the skiing world. Fans adore him, journalists fawn over him, and sponsors are lining up. But despite the fame, the hype, and all his success, "Odi" has always remained a down-to-earth Swiss lad. This is evident in the statements his manager, Michael Schiendorfer, recently made in an interview with CH Average has made this abundantly clear once again.

The interview also touches on money. Odermatt has earned a considerable sum in his career, with prize money alone amounting to 3,5 million Swiss francs. In addition, there are lucrative sponsorship and advertising contracts, for example with Red Bull and Stöckli. Nevertheless, his manager says: "Marco is foregoing a lot of money." He has to turn down requests for his superstar almost daily. "We're talking about a mid-six-figure sum annually that he could be earning more."

Manager Schiendorfer cites a specific example. Some time ago, a Kazakh multi-millionaire approached him, wanting to spend two days skiing with Odermatt. The ski star would have received 150.000 Swiss francs for this, but declined. "We were immediately in agreement: we're not even going to start with things like that. If Marco were to get bogged down in such commitments, he would never have achieved this success," says Manager Schiendorfer, adding: "That's something I love about him!"
