Before the World Cup downhill: Dominik Paris knocks on the door at the top

It is the big highlight of this World Championship: the men's downhill on Sunday (from 11.30 a.m./live ticker on SportNews). The day before, the dress rehearsal took place in Hinterglemm - and Dominik Paris' feeling for the slopes seems to be getting better and better.

Dominik Paris missed out on a World Championship medal in the Super-G on Friday by a measly 16 hundredths of a second. But the Ultner was not furious about it, on the contrary: he was even able to take some positives from his run. "I'm finally able to push myself to the limit again, and that makes me happy," said the powerhouse at the finish.

This gives us confidence for the downhill race on Sunday, which will be the real highlight of this World Championship. And in the dress rehearsal early on Saturday morning, Paris proved that his feeling for the Ulli Maier piste on the Zwölferkogel is getting better and better. Although the Ultner was far from giving it his all and crossing the finish line upright, his run looked very promising in terms of the race. In the end, "Domme" had the fifth best time. We can look forward to seeing South Tyrol's ski star on Sunday!

Odermatt foregoes start

The fastest time in training on Saturday was set by the Swede Felix Monsen, who beat Alex Monney (Switzerland, +0,33 seconds) and Vincent Kriechmayr (Austria, +0,43). The newly crowned Super-G World Champion Marco Odermatt decided not to start.

In the downhill race on Sunday, Florian Schieder A second South Tyrolean will be taking part. He finished the dress rehearsal, in which almost all the top stars drove with the handbrake on, in 11th place.

Christoph Innerhofer was not nominated for the race on Sunday, but he still took part in the last downhill training – also with a view to a possible participation in the team combination. The Gaiser veteran landed in what may be his last World Cup downhill test run in 20th place.
