A great hope for a medal: Sara Thaler

Two South Tyrolean ski talents at the Junior World Championships

The Italian winter sports association FISI announced the nominations for the Junior World Alpine Ski Championships in Portes du Soleil (France) on Friday afternoon. With Sara Thaler and Max Perathoner, two talents from Val Gardena are also in the Azzurri's 16-man squad, who will fight for precious metal from January 30th to February 3rd.

Sara Thaler is in impressive form. The Val Gardena native from Ortisei recently celebrated her two best results in the second highest Alpine competition series with two second places at the European Cup downhills in Orcieres Merlette. Back in December, the 19-year-old, who is a member of the Carabinieri sports group, made people sit up and take notice with third place in the descent at the San Pellegrino Pass. Thaler was already in action at the Junior World Championships last year. In St. Anton she came tenth in the Super-G and took 12th place in the downhill.

Max Perathoner recently achieved his best European Cup result in Tarvisio. He finished tenth in the Super-G. The 21-year-old from Wolkenstein is also at the Junior World Championships for the second time. In St. Anton he came 27th in the downhill, while he was eliminated in the super-G. Perathoner is a member of the Finanzwache sports group.
