Between World Cup aces and hobby riders

The traditional 2horn Downhill South Tyrol Cup season finale is just around the corner. The Auer Ski Club is once again organizing the classic downhill race in the Jochgrimm ski area on Saturday, April 12. World Cup aces and amateur skiers will compete on the Schwarzhorn slope for the 17th time.

The record winner of the 2horn Downhill South Tyrol Cup is North Tyrolean Norbert Holzknecht. The former ÖSV World Cup downhill racer celebrated his eighth victory last year. Another thrilling head-to-head race is expected between Holzknecht and former World Cup ace Werner Heel (Walten).

Nadia Delago, bronze medalist in the downhill at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, won the women's race. The Val Gardena native also set the top speed in the women's category with 127,434 km/h, while ski crosser Dominik Zuech (Lana) reached 131,868 km/h in the men's race. The women were rewarded with a safety training session on a race track.

This year, the winners of the speed category will receive a surprise prize from Scuderia Ferrari Bozen. "The Schwarzhorn track is in excellent condition, and we're all looking forward to a first-class run," emphasizes organizing committee head Christian Haas, who also promises a lively after-race party.

This year, there will again be a separate team ranking (5 people), with at least one starter being a woman. In 2024, the team ranking went to the "Siebert Racing Team" from Austria (Marie-Theres Schöpf, Norbert Holzknecht, Christian Salinger, Stefan Siebert, and Helmut Lechner).
