The Azzurri go home empty-handed at the World Cup

At the Ski Cross World Championships in Engadin (Switzerland), Italy's top favorite Simone Deromedis missed out on a medal.

The defending champion from Trentino, who is struggling with injury, failed in the semifinals on Friday. Deromedis ultimately finished sixth in the small final. The two South Tyroleans Dominik Zuech and Yanick Gunsch were eliminated in the round of 6. Gold went to local hero Ryan Regez.

There was also a Swiss victory in the women's event: Fanny Smith also took gold for the Swiss. The ski crossers continue their competition on Saturday with the team event.
