Two World Cup races will take place in Innichen on Saturday and Sunday. The qualifying rounds were held on Friday. The men needed to finish in the top 32 to advance to the finals. Dominik Zuech accomplished this without difficulty. The 29-year-old from Lana finished a strong fourth in the first qualifying round and twelfth in the second. This made him the top Italian in both qualifying rounds.
Canadian Reece Howden, who has already triumphed twice in Innichen, set the fastest time in both runs. Overall World Cup leader Simone Deromedis qualified for the finals in a lackluster 22nd and 24th place. Davide Cazzaniga and Federico Tomasoni will also compete on Saturday and Sunday. Edoardo Zorzi, however, only qualified for the second race.
Gunsch in bad luck
Yanick Gunsch had a day to forget, crashing in the first qualifying session and not starting the second. The 28-year-old escaped with bruises. Daniel Moroder, on the other hand, initially finished in 51st place and then failed to complete the second qualifying session.Spectacular photos are guaranteed in Innichen. Jole Galli was the only Italian woman to reach the finals. The fastest times were set by Sweden's Sandra Näslund and France's Marielle Berger Sabbatel. No women from South Tyrol participated.
