Insam and his teammate Giovanni Bresadola initially skipped the Four Hills Tournament opener in Oberstdorf to put in extra training sessions at the Predazzo ski jump in preparation for the Olympic Games (February 6-22, 2026). Their return to competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen was ultimately uneventful: Insam landed in 52nd place with a jump of 121,0 meters (101,7 points), while Bresadola finished further back (58th/97,3).
Domen Prevc from Slovenia once again secured victory in the preliminary round (150,6). The dominant winner from Oberstdorf jumped 139,5 meters. A highlight on New Year's Eve came from Austrian Stephan Embacher, who set a new hill record of 145,5 meters on the large Olympic hill. The jury subsequently shortened the inrun by two gates. Embacher missed out on victory in the qualification round, partly because he couldn't land cleanly at that distance and therefore received significant deductions for style (3rd/143,2). Second place went to his compatriot Jan Hörl (2nd/146,2).
On New Year's Day, the competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen will be for victory; the first round starts at 14.00 p.m.
