At the most recent World Cup stage in Klingenthal, he missed the final twice in 31st place. “My jumps were actually good. But unfortunately there was some bad luck, also with the wind. In the end I was missing 0,3 and 0,6 points, that really hurt,” said the 26-year-old from Wolkenstein. Because mourning afterwards doesn't help, Insam prefers to look forward. The next competitions are scheduled for the weekend in Engelberg: “On Thursday morning we are going to Engelberg. The qualification is already on Friday.” “The Four Hills Tournament is something special every year.” Alex Insam Even though the difficult external conditions for Italy's ski jumpers have not changed, Insam feels well prepared for the winter: “I'm doing well, I'm pretty fit and I'm looking forward to the competitions. Even though I haven't been in the points recently, there are still good signs. I’m always there.” The two season highlights are still ahead of Insam. The Four Hills Tournament starts at the end of December. “The Four Hills Tournament is something special every year. The jumps are completely different, but they are all very difficult. Because you change location almost every day, it makes the Four Hills Tournament even more special.” Ski Flying World Championships on Kulm as a big goal Another goal of Alex Insam is the Ski Flying World Championships. This will take place from January 25th to 28th in Bad Mitterndorf at the legendary Kulm. Insam feels particularly comfortable ski flying and emphasizes straight away: “The Ski Flying World Championships is a big goal of mine this winter.” But because it will still take a while until then, the native of Val Gardena has set other goals for the time being: “I want to Jump into the top 30 in every competition.” The next opportunity will be on Saturday in Engelberg.
