Alex Insam also shows off the New Year's jump

Sold out house at the Four Hills Tournament in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. 21.000 enthusiastic fans found their way to the ski jumping stadium. And they were treated to a thrilling competition at the highest level.

The Azzurri also have reason to celebrate on New Year's Day. Alex Insam from Val Gardena and his teammate Giovanni Bresadola had made it through the knockout round, Insam in 22nd place and Bresadola in 30th place came into the second round at halftime. Bresadola opened the final of the best 2, sailing on 30 meters. The man from Ossana (Val di Sole) made up position after position, and in the end the 133,5-year-old finished 22th. The year started quite successfully for Bresadola.

Alex Insam can also be satisfied, with jumps of 125,5 and 129 meters he finished 23rd. After finishing 25th at the start of the Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf a few days ago, the native of Val Gardena can once again be happy about points in the tournament.

Lanisek surprises everyone

The day's victory in the New Year's competition went to the Slovenian Anze Lanisek after jumps of 136 and 137 meters. Ryoyu Kobayashi (137 and 135,5 meters) from Japan and Andreas Wellinger (Germany) completed the podium.

Before the remaining two stops in Innsbruck and Bischofshofen, Wellinger is now 1,8 points ahead of his pursuer Kobayashi in the overall ranking of the tour.
