Lindvik and Forfang suspended – Only one suit allowed

In the ski jumping scandal involving manipulated suits, the world governing body FIS has set new rules for the remaining World Cup competitions.

From now on, athletes will only be allowed to compete in one jumpsuit until the end of the season. This must be a suit that has already been equipped with an identification chip this winter. A second suit can be available as a backup in case the first one breaks.

Each selected suit will be inspected with the athletes before today's World Cup at Holmenkollen in Oslo. The jump suits will be collected by FIS officials after the competition. They will be reissued approximately 30 minutes before the next training session or competition. The changes also apply to Nordic Combined.

Top jumpers Lindvik and Forfang were suspended by the FIS

At the World Championships in Trondheim, which concluded last Sunday, tampered with Norwegian ski jumpers' suits attracted considerable attention. The World Championship host had added an illegal seam to the suits, intended to provide greater stability after takeoff. The jumpers reportedly benefited from the additional stability while flying in the air. Top athletes Marius Lindvik and Johann André Forfang, among others, were subsequently suspended by the FIS.
