Next podium: Gabriel Messner continues to trump

It's still winter for snowboarder Gabriel Messner! For the third time in his career, and for the third time this season, the Villnößer raced onto the podium in the World Cup.

After a second and a third place in the parallel slalom, Gabriel Messner has now achieved his first top result in the parallel giant slalom. He took third place in the World Cup race in Bansko, Bulgaria. Only the two Austrians Andreas Prommegger and Benjamin Karl were better than him.

The 27-year-old from Eisacktal already boasted the best time in the qualification, and in the knockout phase he held his own against Alexander Payer (Austria) and Mirko Felicetti from Trentino. After his semi-final defeat against Karl, Messner won the "small final" against the Bulgarian local hero Tervel Zamfirov. In the purely Austrian decision, Prommegger had the better end.

Coratti second best Azzurro

The eventual winner of the day defeated veteran Roland Fischnaller (14th) in the round of 18. Edwin Coratti finished sixth after his quarter-final exit, while Daniele Bagozza (22th), Aaron March (33nd), Tommy Rabanser (44rd) and Fabian Lantschner (XNUMXth) remained in the qualification. The other two South Tyroleans, Mike Santuari (out) and Manuel Haller (disqualified), did not make it into the final ranking.

The women's parallel giant slalom was won by the German Ramona Hofmeister. Jasmin Coratti finished eighth after being eliminated in the quarter-finals, while all other Azzurre - including Sophie Rabanser - failed in the qualification.

The World Cup program in Bulgaria will be concluded on Sunday with another parallel giant slalom.
