Three on the podium: South Tyrolean snowboard madness

The South Tyrolean snowboarders continued their impressive series of successes: In Cortina d'Ampezzo, Daniele Bagozza triumphed in the South Tyrolean final against Aaron March. Jasmin Coratti secured another podium place in the women's category and underlined the outstanding team performance.

The performances of the South Tyrolean parallel snowboarders this season not only impress the fans, but also frighten the competition. After three World Cup stops in China and Carezza, Edwin Coratti, Jasmin Coratti and Daniele Bagozza had already achieved three victories, complemented by two more podium places by Gabriel Messner. This success story continued impressively on Saturday evening in Cortina d'Ampezzo: Daniele Bagozza triumphed in the final against his teammate Aaron March, while Jasmin Coratti also had reason to celebrate again: she came third!

The outstanding team performance was once again a highlight in this parallel giant slalom - especially among the men. In Veneto, four South Tyroleans made it into the round of the best eight: Roland Fischnaller, who has already celebrated numerous successes there, as well as Daniele Bagozza, Gabriel Messner and Aaron March. There was no direct duel between them at first. As the competition progressed, however, the exciting decisions led to a semi-final that was dominated by the duel between Austria and South Tyrol, with March and Bagozza each fighting for a place in the final.

March and Bagozza deliver

Bagozza competed against Alexander Payer. The Carinthian managed to gain a small lead in the upper section of the course, but a brilliant final sprint from Bagozza made the race extremely close. A long analysis of the finish photo ultimately resulted in an exact draw. Due to his better qualifying time, the Val Gardena rider then moved into the final. Shortly afterwards, March won his semi-final comfortably against Fabian Obmann, which rewarded the fans with an all-South Tyrolean final.

In the decisive race it was Ortisei versus Fiè: Bagozza started on the blue course, March on the red. Both had a thrilling head-to-head race until Bagozza gained a slight lead in the final gates and crossed the finish line in first place, cheering. For the Val Gardena native, it was his first podium finish in Cortina and also his second win of the season. March, on the other hand, was able to celebrate his first podium finish this winter.

Coratti's rivalry becomes a highlight

Jasmin Coratti was also able to celebrate another success. After her outstanding victory in Carezza, the 23-year-old finished in a strong third place in Cortina. In the small final, the Vinschgau native from Langtaufers beat the Japanese Tsubaki Miki.

However, special attention was paid to her semi-final duel against Aleksandra Krol-Walas from Poland. This rivalry is increasingly becoming the highlight of the snowboard circus. While Coratti was defeated in China, she won the decisive final in Carezza. This time, however, she had to admit defeat again. Krol-Walas then lost in the final to the Austrian winner of the day, Sabine Payer.
