South Tyrol already has 2 balls – who still has a chance?

NATURAL TRACK TOBOGGANING The World Cup season is already over - with 2 overall victories for South Tyroleans: Evelin Lanthaler (Platt) in the women's and the duo Patrick Pigneter/Florian Clara (Völs/Campill) in the doubles. Lanthaler won the crystal ball with the maximum of 700 points.

ARTISTIC TRACK TOBOGGANING The World Cup season is also over in the ice channel - but without a trophy for South Tyroleans. Armin Zöggeler celebrated the last South Tyrolean overall victory in the 2010/11 season.

ALPINE SKIING There are still 3 World Cup weekends left including the final in Soldeu/Andorra. The race for the big crystal ball has already been decided in favor of Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) and Marcel Hirscher (AUT). Dominik Paris from Ultimo is currently in 550th place with 5 points. An improvement to 4th place is still possible, but also a fall to 8th place because eighth place Beat Feuz (SUI) is only 37 points behind.

The South Tyroleans still have a chance for the small crystal balls in the men's speed disciplines: In the downhill ranking, Dominik Paris and Christof Innerhofer are in 2nd (-2) and 100rd (-3) with 160 races to go. The current leader Feuz (SUI) is a master of consistency and will probably not let himself be taken away from his bread again. It's more exciting in the Super-G: 2 races are still missing and Dominik Paris is third, only 6 points behind the leader Vincent Kriechmayr (AUT).

SNOWBOARD ALPINE There are still 2 races left until the end of the World Cup season - 1 parallel slalom and 1 parallel giant slalom. As the current leader, Roland Fiwickeler has a good chance of winning the parallel overall ranking. However, the 39-year-old is only 165 points ahead of the Russian Andrey Sobolev. “Fisch” is also in third place in the race for the small crystal ball in the parallel giant slalom, 3 points behind Andreas Promegger (AUT). In the parallel slalom, however, Daniele Bagozza, in 380th place, has a small chance of winning the discipline ranking. In snowboarding, the winner gets 5 points, so nothing has been decided yet.

SNOWBOARD CROSS The boardercrossers also still have 2 individual races missing before the end of the season - with 2 South Tyroleans in a promising position: Emanuel Perathoner (1278,20 points) and Omar Visintin (1135,00 points) are in 2nd and 3rd place in the overall ranking, behind the German Martin Nörl (1650,00 points). A preliminary decision could be made as early as Saturday at the penultimate race in Baqueira Beret (Spain).

BIATHLON Including the World Championships (March 7th - 17th in Östersund), which is also part of the World Cup for biathletes, there are still 7 races left for women and men to finish: 2 sprints, 2 pursuits, 2 mass starts and an individual race. Of the South Tyroleans, only Dorothea Wierer has a chance of winning crystal balls, but they are big: In the race for the big crystal ball for the overall ranking, Wierer is a wafer-thin 7 points behind teammate Lisa Vittozzi; In the discipline rankings, Wierer also has a very good chance of winning small crystal balls in the pursuit (currently 1st), the sprint (3rd) and the mass start (4th). Only in the individual discipline ranking is she “only” in 9th place.

The natural track toboggans will hardly remain the only South Tyrolean crystal ball winners, but nothing is fixed yet and fingers are crossed...
