First Playboy, then the Olympics: two stars show off

Janine Flock and Lisa Buckwitz normally race through the world's ice canals at breathtaking speeds. The Austrian Flock is a skeleton star and has already won the overall World Cup here twice, while the German Buckwitz regularly causes a sensation in the two-man bobsleigh and is the reigning Olympic champion. But before the two women go on the hunt for medals in Beijing, they drew attention to themselves in other ways: They dropped their covers for Playboy.

“The photos took more courage than driving through the ice track at 145 km/h,” explains Flock, who is hunting for gold in skeleton – a discipline in which athletes throw themselves headfirst down the ice track. “Every woman can be proud of her body” She had to think about it a bit after the Playboy offer, but the North Tyrolean finally agreed - also because of the support from those around her. “Even my grandma said: 'Of course you'll do it, Janine!'” The 32-year-old's message: “I want to show that a natural body can also be beautiful. One to which nothing has been done. I haven't had any cosmetic surgery and I stand by what I have. Every woman can be proud of her body.”

The same applies to 27-year-old Lisa Buckwitz, who wants to defend her title in the two-man bobsleigh in Beijing. “Every woman is allowed to be naked and no one should be ashamed of their body. For example, I have a few more muscles - so what? I wanted to show that this is also a woman's body. I don't have to hide as a competitive athlete. No woman has to hide,” she told the magazine.
