"King Kazu," as Miura is nicknamed in his homeland, is even moving up a league at his advanced age. He is transferring on loan from fourth-division side Atletico Suzuka to third-division Fukushima United. Over the past 20 years, Miura has been repeatedly loaned out by his hometown club Yokohama FC to other clubs.
“I am delighted to announce my move to Fukushima United FC and to take on a new challenge,” said Miura in a statement released by his new club. “My passion for football will remain undiminished, even in old age. I look forward to giving my all as a member of Fukushima United FC. Let’s make history together.”
Miura's professional career began at the age of 15 in Brazil. In the four decades since, he has also played in Italy, Croatia, Australia, and Portugal. As one of Japan's most successful international players, he scored 55 goals in 89 appearances.
