FCS will face promotion favorite Palermo on Sunday at 17.15:XNUMX p.m. However, the Sicilians will be without a large portion of their supporters. The Bolzano government office ruled on Friday that "for security reasons" no tickets may be sold to fans from Sicily. Tickets already purchased will be canceled and refunded.
The decision has met with fierce criticism. "Due to the ban on the sale of tickets for the South Tyrol vs. Palermo match to residents of the Sicily region, Palermo FC wishes to express its deep disappointment," the club stated on social media. The club has already expressed its regret to the relevant authorities. The short notice, less than 48 hours before kickoff, is also unacceptable. Numerous fans had already planned their trips to Bolzano.
“Football protagonists”
"The fans are the sole protagonists of football," the club emphasizes, underscoring the central role of supporters. Depriving them of the opportunity to attend a match is not a solution, Palermo's statement states, among other things.Palermo FC will "never support a stance that disregards the sacrifices of families and fans who travel thousands of kilometers and invest time and money to support their beloved team," the measure is met with harsh criticism. "But the heart will always prevail," FC Palermo concluded.
Conflicts between fan groups
As the news agency ANSA reports, the Bolzano government office issued the order following a report from the Palermo police station. The reason for the fans' exclusion is likely due to disagreements between rival ultra groups of the Sicilian club. Conflicts reportedly occurred between groups from the "Curva Nord" and "Curva Sud" during the last Serie B season.Edit Profile
