Playing with ten men: FC Südtirol remains winless.

The day before Gaudete Sunday, FC Südtirol faced a crucial six-pointer against SSC Bari. The two teams were separated by just one point in the league table before the match. However, FCS couldn't manage a victory against the Apulian side either.

The situation remains unchanged: FC Südtirol (at least for now) cannot win. After the goalless and rather unspectacular draw against Bari, FCS has now gone eleven (!) games and two and a half months without a victory – their last win was on September 27th at home against Reggiana. While the Red and Whites have managed seven draws in their last eleven matches, this hasn't really helped FCS climb the table.

Against Bari, the Red and Whites started well and had the better chances. The turning point came in the 25th minute: After Simone Tronchin pushed the ball too far forward, he caught an opponent on the ankle with his outstretched foot while trying to reach it. The referee was correctly called to the monitor and, after reviewing the video evidence, showed the FCS midfielder a red card.

That things weren't going well for the visitors from Bari became clear after Tronchin's sending-off: The team from Apulia took control of the game and enjoyed a clear advantage in possession, but failed to create any real scoring opportunities. The visitors' play lacked creativity, and at times they pinned the FC Südtirol professionals deep in their own half.

While the slightly more than 3.500 spectators witnessed some dangerous attacks in the first half, the game became dull after the break: The visitors failed to create any dangerous chances, while the FCS players tried to see out the draw – which they accomplished brilliantly. After the final whistle, the same question was probably on the minds of all FCS fans: What would have happened if Tronchin hadn't received a red card?

The most important moments

FCS starts strongAfter a warning shot from Jacopo Martini that flew just wide of the opposing goal (7th minute), a murmur went through the Drusus Stadium when Emanuele Pecorino's header – which was too weak – was headed in (18th minute). Daniele Casiraghi had set him up with a cross. Shortly afterwards, Tronchin was sent off with a red card for his reckless challenge (25th minute).
Opportunity here, opportunity thereOn the other side, Matthias Braunöder crosses into the middle, but Christian Gytkjaer's header is too inaccurate and rolls past the goal (31'). Almost immediately, Casiraghi tests visiting goalkeeper Michele Cerofolini from the edge of the penalty area, who deflects the shot over the bar with two fists (32').
Brilliant deed IBari almost took the lead at the Drusus Stadium: Gabriele Moncini's header forced FCS goalkeeper Marius Adamonis to stretch to his full length to tip the ball into the corner (43'). A great save from the Lithuanian!
Brilliant Deed IIFC Südtirol's best chance this afternoon belongs to – who else? – of course Casiraghi: The magician curls a free kick from 25 meters precisely into the top left corner, but Cerofolini takes flight and deflects the ball over the bar with an incredible save (45+5).
Action? Not a chance! The game then petered out in the second half, with nothing of note happening. Both teams seemed content with the draw.

Before the Christmas holidays, FC Südtirol will play away against newly promoted Virtus Entella on Sunday, December 21st – kickoff is at 15 pm. The year 2025 will conclude with an away game against Juve Stabia (December 27th at 15 pm), before the Red and Whites return to the Drusus Stadium on Saturday, January 10th, 2026. Their opponent will then be Spezia, with kickoff at 15 pm.
