Appeal rejected: Salernitana must go into the play-offs

After being relegated by Brescia, Salernitana harbored faint hopes of escaping the play-off against Sampdoria. However, the southern Italians' appeal was dismissed.

Following the controversy surrounding Brescia, which has now been relegated to Serie C and apparently won't be registered there by president Massimo Cellino, Salernitana sought to enforce the suspension of the play-offs in court. The Campania club sued – but was unsuccessful.

As announced on Friday, the Italian Football Association's association court dismissed the lawsuit and confirmed the play-off duel between Salernitana and Sampdoria.
