Bologna with one foot in the cup final

Bologna FC clearly won the first leg of the Italian Cup semi-final against Empoli, putting themselves in an excellent position to progress.

The fourth-placed team in Serie A, which had recently celebrated five consecutive victories, beat relegation-threatened Empoli (18th place) 3-0 away. Bologna laid the foundation for the decisive victory in the first half, with Riccardo Orsolini (23') and Thijs Dallinga (29') scoring within six minutes to make it 2-0. Dallinga sealed the 3-0 final score shortly after the restart (51').


Empoli eliminated Juventus in the quarterfinals, while Bologna beat Atalanta. The return leg will take place on Thursday, April 24. Milan and Inter face off in the other semifinal. The first clash between the city rivals will take place on Wednesday at 21 p.m.
