"We don't have to win against this opponent, but we obviously want to take something with us," said Obermais goalkeeper Luca Tenderini before the clash with Mestre. The Venetians are one of the favorites for the league title. In the end, FCO held up well but lost again 0-1.
FC Obermais held its own against this very top team for a long time in their historic first home game on the Lahn River. After a goalless first half, it was Lorenzo Melchiori who finally put the visitors on the road to victory with his opening goal (48'). One might say it was Melchiori, of all people, since the Mestre defender hails from Bolzano and thus played his own personal derby.
Bottom of the table after the second defeat
Obermais coach Flavio Toccoli brought on two new players, Luca Polli and Renato Sula (replacing Oliver Rohrer and Marlind Bahaj), compared to the opening game in Este. New signing Armand Srmcka had to be substituted due to injury before halftime, and captain Martin Ciaghi came in for him. Ciaghi tried to fight back after conceding a quick goal after the break, but was unable to prevent the defeat. After their second defeat, Obermais finds themselves at the bottom of the table, along with Bassano, Portogruaro, Conegliano, and Calvi Noale. Next week, the Merano team faces an away game against Vigasio.
