Obermaiser bankruptcy in Este: Clearer than it was
The anticipation of the start of the championship was followed by disappointment. FC Obermais suffered a 0-3 defeat in Este in their historic first Serie D match.

FC Obermais began the match in Este with great enthusiasm and five Oberliga champions from the previous season (Tenderini, Paulmichl, Ghiotti, Turini, Debiasi) in the starting lineup. Also included, somewhat surprisingly, was Manuel Brusco, who came on as a substitute after about an hour, marking his comeback from a groin injury.
Este showed in front of their home crowd that it's not for nothing that they've been playing in Serie D for 21 years without a break. After 15 minutes, Lorenzo Barzon gave the home side the lead. It remained that way for the time being, as neither Obermais nor Este could score again.
The Venetians only snatched the 3-0 victory in the closing stages, when the South Tyroleans were pushing for an equalizer. Matteo Pinton (he has played 76 Serie C matches/87th minute) and Dario Chiriac (90th minute) scored the goals for Este. The 3-0 victory for the home side thus looks more decisive than it actually was. Obermais's next match is next week with its first home game against Mestre.
